ESL Instructor (English as a Second Language)

We are hiring for a great client in East St. Louis, IL. This is an on-site part-time contract opportunity for an ESL Instructor who will support English Learner (EL) students by providing targeted language instruction and helping them access core academic content in a school-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct ESL/ELD instruction to students at varying English proficiency levels
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state ELD standards
• Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support language acquisition across content areas
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of English Learners
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Assist in assessing English proficiency and supporting reclassification processes
• Participate in student support meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for diverse student populations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, or related field preferred
• Valid IL teaching credential
• Previous experience working with English Learners in a school setting
• Strong understanding of language acquisition and instructional strategies for EL students
• Knowledge of state standards and compliance requirements for English Learner programs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Culturally responsive and student-centered approach
