We are hiring for a great client in the Orange County area seeking a Customer Service Representative to join their team on a temporary basis. This role provides front-line support to customers both in person and over the phone, handling inquiries related to service requests, billing, payments, and general account assistance.
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors at the front counter; answer and route incoming calls to appropriate departments or personnel.
- Provide prompt, courteous customer service by phone, email, and in person; research and resolve inquiries related to billing, payments, and service issues.
- Process customer service requests such as new account activations, service disconnections, and adjustments.
- Serve as cashier by accepting payments via mail, in person, and electronically; balance daily receipts and prepare bank deposits.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and process electronic funds transfers (EFT/NACHA).
- Assist field personnel by retrieving account and meter data from the billing system as needed.
- Explain company policies and procedures to customers in a clear and professional manner.
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the customer service lobby.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of customer service and/or bookkeeping experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach.
- Proficient in handling payments, balancing receipts, and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and adapt to new processes quickly.
- Experience in a public agency, utilities, or government setting preferred but not required.
