We are hiring for a reputable and growing organization in the Los Angeles area seeking an experienced Controller to lead their accounting and finance operations. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the full accounting function, driving process improvements, ensuring strong financial controls, and supporting the company’s continued growth and operational success. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has experience managing all core accounting activities while partnering closely with executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, tax requirements, and audit standards
• Calculate, review, and oversee commission structures, royalties, and sales-based incentives, ensuring accurate accruals and reporting
• Perform and review reconciliations related to revenue streams, royalty income, inventory, and other complex balance sheet accounts
• Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and process efficiencies
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and strategic financial initiatives
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and business decisions
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing leadership, training, and performance management
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, inventory, and other departments to ensure accurate financial data across systems
• Manage external relationships with auditors, tax professionals, banks, and other financial partners

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership within a corporate accounting environment
• Prior experience managing accounting teams and overseeing full-cycle accounting operations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience working in mid-sized organizations (approximately $15M+ in revenue preferred)
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and take ownership of the accounting function
