We are seeking an experienced Accountant for a contract opportunity with a great client in the Lynwood, CA area. This position will provide additional support to the accounting and finance team, with a primary focus on year-end audit preparation, reconciliations, and general accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to step into a busy environment and assist with a variety of accounting projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with year-end audit preparation and respond to audit-related requests
• Prepare and complete bank and general ledger account reconciliations
• Research and resolve account discrepancies
• Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation
• Assist with general ledger maintenance and account analysis
• Review financial data for accuracy and completeness
• Compile schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for year-end activities
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
• Support the Finance/Accounting team with additional accounting projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Previous professional accounting experience
• Strong experience with bank and account reconciliations
• General ledger and journal entry experience
• Experience assisting with audits and/or year-end close preferred
• Municipal, governmental, or other public-sector accounting experience is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
