Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH Teacher)
We are hiring for a great client in Groveland, MA. This is an on-site contract opportunity for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH Teacher) who will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring access to educational content and promoting academic, communication, and social-emotional success in a school-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing based on their individual educational needs
- Develop and implement instructional strategies that support language development, communication skills, and academic achievement
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure students have access to the curriculum and appropriate accommodations
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation aligned with IEP goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations regarding services, accommodations, and educational programming
- Support students in the use of assistive listening devices, hearing technology, and communication systems
- Consult with families, teachers, interpreters, and related service providers to promote student success
- Assist in evaluating students' communication, educational, and functional needs
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations and district policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid MA credential authorizing instruction for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing required
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings preferred
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, and other communication modalities as appropriate
- Understanding of IEP development, accommodations, and special education compliance requirements
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Passion for supporting student achievement, independence, and communication development through specialized instruction and advocacy for accessibility and inclusion in the educational environment.
