American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter 

We are hiring for a great client in West Swanzy, New Hampshire. This is an on-site contract opportunity for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter who will support students who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing accurate interpretation services in a school-based setting. 

Responsibilities 

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students in classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings 
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers 
• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa while maintaining accuracy and appropriate tone 
• Support student access to curriculum, discussions, and educational materials 
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication strategies are in place 
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards 
• Assist in preparing for classroom activities by reviewing materials in advance when possible 
• Participate in IEP meetings and provide input as appropriate 

Qualifications 

• Certification as an ASL Interpreter (e.g., RID certification or equivalent) preferred 
• Previous experience interpreting in educational or school-based settings preferred 
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and professional interpreting ethics 
• Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to remain neutral, professional, and accurate in all interpreting situations 
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
