Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting a timely close process. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, hands-on experience with reconciliations and reporting, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and collaborative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain detailed supporting schedules, workpapers, and financial analyses
- Assist with internal control processes, compliance documentation, and accounting procedures
- Support payroll accounting processes, including reconciliations and related entries
- Coordinate with external auditors by preparing requested schedules and documentation during audits
- Assist with tax reporting and compliance requirements in partnership with external advisors
- Analyze financial results and prepare management reports highlighting trends and variances
- Support preparation of reports for regulatory, tax, and other external requirements
- Partner with internal departments to improve processes, streamline reporting, and strengthen controls
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc assignments to support the accounting team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience working in a multi-entity or mid-to-large company environment preferred
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (experience with large-scale systems is a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Familiarity with audits, internal controls, and compliance processes
